Have you ever heard the phrase "we are going on a wing and a prayer"?
Sometimes in college we would say this when we were down to our last $10 with no groceries and a empty gas tank. Clearly
we were relying on some external force to keep us in flight.
A bird with only one healthy wing
would not be able to get very far. Sometimes we as humans try to get places with only one healthy wing. We forget
that God did not make us self-sufficient. We proceed to take flight many times without a prayer.
I chose Wings and Prayer for this ministry because I believe it reflects God's plan for sustaining us and
fulfilling our purpose on this earth. Prayer being our direct communication to God allows us to do three things.
1) Acknowledge God's greatness and power 2) Communicate our fears, hopes, and dreams
3) Trust in God's ability to change our hearts and lives
It is God's plan for us to grow and learn
how to fly. He wants us to experience all of His glory and pleasure. God wants us to delight in His
will and soar around sharing His message with others. He gives us our wings and strengthens them through
trials and hard times. Then He gives us courage to try again and again. Ultimately through our trust and faith
in Him, God is the wind beneath our wings.
Wings and prayer are my daily reminder that I alone can do
nothing without His power and mercy.
Through Him, Julie
